My 6 week old puppy thinks that towels, mats, wooden planks(!), etc are provided for his amusement rather than to rest on. He drags them around, plays with them, chews them, etc. I don't want him to eat them. I like a pup to have a strong aversion to Bitter Apple rather than being used to laying on something that smells like it or I'd just spray the mat with it.
What can I give pup to sleep/rest on that would be available locally? For both in the ex-pen and his crate. I have cold tile floors and he always goes to the mats or plank to sleep on. The heavy rubber mats that Leerburg sells are nice but I don't really want to have to order a custom product with high shipping fees if there's an alternative.
For the crate yes. He doesn't put into that until I know he's about ready to crash out. But he has some regular "just hanging out" time in the ex-pen where he entertains himself with toys.
