Hi all
I switched my dogs to natural diet and have some questions as we are working it all out.
No grains includes rice? Is there anything you all recommend for firming up stools? they do seem looser since we started this.
I could shoot some things this time of year for fun, but I hate throwing away dead animals - does anyone have feedback on giving my pooches an occasional whole bird (say, a pigeon) or even a rabbit? (half a rabbit?) I know the guys I used to hunt with would give bird heads to their spaniels and such, but how this translates to actual diet I don't know. I am talking feathers, feet, all that-I am not cleaning a pigeon for them. rabbit maybe-I like rabbits too.
My dogs vomited like heck one night and since then I have been blanching the cuts of meat I feed them, I am afraid they got something nasty in the raw meat and might get it again. I fed raw hamburger this morning and I am dreading what might happen. is there a best way to prevent bacteria in the meat that doesn't ruin its nutritious qualities?
Try to get some of the probiotics powder to add to the food. I don't think it is the fact that the meat is raw which is the problem. If you can't find the probiotics locally (a smaller independent pet store carried it here-but not the superstore) you can use a good yogurt with active bacteria. It made a huge difference when I was switching my older dogs to raw food.
