Can anyone give me an idea of how much my 6 month old GSD should weight and any idea how much she will weight? She is 50lb right now. People tell me she will be over 100lbs which is crazy to me. Her dad was 85 and her mom was about 65. Thanks <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Hi Mark, Portia, my 6 month old female GSD weighs 46lbs. She was weighed last week during a Vet visit. The Vet said that she will be a big girl and will grow to about 75 or 80lbs. From what I've read and heard over feeding a pup can add unwanted stress on growing bones and joints. Portia is fed 5 raw chicken wing sections and 3 cups of kibble split between 2 feedings. Take care and good luck.

Kyle, you need to change your user name to your full name.
Vets are really lousy at telling people what their dog will weigh. They spend all day looking at overweight dogs and it gets to the point that they are only used to seeing out of shape animals.
Keep the dog fit. You should be able to feel ribs easily and the dog should have a waist when viewed from above. The numbers don't mean much.
I can feel her ribs and she is in great shape. I make sure not to over feed her. I just dont want her to be a 100lb GSD and I really dont think she will be since her parents were not. Like I said her father was around 85lbs which is average. My guess is she will be around 75lbs which is large for a female but not crazy like 100lbs. Thanks for the info.
