I learnt yesterday of the terrible news my friend and and work colleague was given the devastating news during a family holiday, that their beloved Akita, Kuma died while entrusted to a boarding kennel who decided to exercise her, then allow her free access to water on the hottest day of the year here in Norfolk.
Kuma died of bloat. She was a beautiful, regal and dearly loved member of her family, and a well known girl in our little village where she lived after being rehomed 6 years ago.
Sleep peacefully Kuma, you were a good and beautiful girl, and everyone will miss you.
That poor family. This was my biggest fear when I boarded my Boxer. Some places have automatically refilled water sustems and couldn't understand why I would request that they disable it.
I'm so sorry for your friends' loss. I can only imagine the devastation they are feeling over such a tragic and unexpected loss of their beautiful and much-loved dog. Rest in peace, Kuma.
What a terrible thing to have happen. So sorry for your friends.
I'm surprised that the kennel admitted to that....most would cover it up, I'm sure.
RIP Kuma.
I'm feel so sorry for that family. What a horrible way to lose a pet!
My friends all laugh at me when I tell them I would rather drive 6 hours and leave my dogs with my breeder than put them into boarding closer to home.
I know even when all the precautions are taken, things can still go wrong but I would rather have the peace of mind knowing my dogs are being well cared for by someone I trust and that knows my breed of dog.
