"Uh uh", my "try again" marker, but used as instead as a bridge to the correct position, rather than as a "that's wrong, start over". Note that uh uh is different from "no". Starting with the dog in front, I command the flip finish with 'au pied". Her finish is predictably good, but in the beginning her final position was sometimes too forward. I said uh uh and she corrected her position. When the position was correct, I gave a reward mark. If she totally fumbled, I would give her a no (or nope, for some), call her back to front, and then command the au pied again. Some years later, any time I say uh uh while she is in basic (or heel) position, she checks her position first. I also use "good" as a both a bridge and a duration marker, but for correct behaviors and positions. ETA: We do lots of exercises and drills that work on position during heeling. IMHO repetitions are the key to imprinting correct position into the dog's muscle memory. Consistency over time. Sadie
