Hi guys,
This is the first time I have posted on this forum but I have been reading everything it contains trying to get all the information I can get out of it. You guys are very knowledgable so I decided to post a question. I just bought an APBT, I will be able to bring him home on May 1, when he is a little over 8 weeks old. Anyways, I want to get him on a raw diet but my question is whether I can use Ed's diet plan on what he feeds his pups for what I will feed mine?
The main ingredients he uses, do most raw diets use those products, so its just a matter of the quantity you feed your dog. Is that right?
My last question is the dog is going to be comming on a Saturday and I dont' believe my vet will be open during sat night. Is it ok to play/hug the pup before it has its initial check up? Should i just keep interaction to the bare minimum untill he gets his checkup?
Ed's puppy raw diet will work fine for your pup- you will just need to tailor the amount to fit your puppy. I strongly suggest you get some books to read on the diet as well. The more you read the more informed decisions you can make. Two good inexpensive starter books would be Natural Nutrition for Dogs and Cats by Kymythy R. Schultze C.C.N., A.H.I. and Raw Dog Food by Carina Beth MacDonald

I raised APBT's for a long time and I recommend feeding your puppy a good premium dry food and supplement with some raw stuff and some supplements. My opinion is that you will like the results you get more than a straight raw diet. Good luck. What is his bloodline?
I have a new GSD puppy coming in a few weeks and have also been preparing to feed him the raw diet. One thing i read is that if the puppy was not feed a raw diet at the breeder then start by feeding only RMB (raw meaty bones) for the first week. That's my plan and if you choose to follow that course let me know how it goes.
I am glad you made the raw choice. I think you will be pleased with the health of your pup by feedin raw. I am very glad I got over my fear and changed my dog to raw. Good Luck with your new pup <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
he's 100% razor's edge, coming from the daughter of cairo. He's a good looking pup. I was wandering why you recommend a mix b/w raw and kibbles and not just raw food? thanks.
