How much vitamin C would you give to a puppy around 12 weeks? I been giving 500 mg once a day. My adult shepherd gets 1000 mg once a day.
Thank you

in regards to vit C and the validity of the above link ...
Dogs (and most animals on earth except for humans, apes, guinea pigs) produce enough vitamin C to keep them healthy. Physiologically speaking it is the bodies way of saving the animal from wasting time foraging for a source (in this case mainly vegetables)Catch is here though ... just because you supplement your dogs diet does not mean the body will shut down production. You also have to remember that extra supplements can throw the bodys other vitamins and minerals off course so unless you have calculated to make up for the extra calcium can do more harm then good. Of course for dogs that have shown a very high risk of getting CHD at an early age or movement problems later in life, supplementation has been advantageous
I suppose theres always arguments both ways in regards to supplemetation. I've never felt the need to throw extras into my dogs diets except if needed (calcium, omega oils, etc depending on age, condition and work done at the time) and even then I take the time to sit down and work out how much is needed so the dog gets the most benefit out of it.
I dont care what my boss said ... Flurescent yellow shirts did not increase workplace enthusiasm ...
