I HAVE BEEN THROUGH SOME FOODS WITH MY GSD! FIRST EUKANUBA CAUSE OF THE BREEDER THEN EAGLE PACK BECAUSE OF RECCOMENDATIONS AND NOW NATURAL CHOICE HAS BEEN WITH HER FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS. I GUESS SHE LIKES IT BUT SHE A LITTE THIN ANY RECOMENDATIONS? WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Feed her more? You have to look at the overall condition of the dog. Output, condition of coat, eyes, teeth, etc. If you can see the last rib, then she's fine. Some foods you can feed 2 cups and that's all that's required, other foods require more cups/food to equal the same caloric intake. Just look at the condition of your dog.

Yes, depending on her energy level and how often she's exercised, you may have to feed a little more. Do you have a recent picture of your dog that you could show? I know you can't post it here, but if you had a picture, it would be easier to tell if she was too thin or not.

Peter I'm boarding a 5 month old female GSD she seems sorta thin 46lbs, we are feeding Purina Puppy chow recommended by the Vet and owner. She has a shinning black coat and ears are standing erect, she's cute but not as handsome as my male at that age. He was huskier and better looking. He looked stout at 5-9 months.
This puppy has longer legs, thinner and energy out the waszoo, she runs and jumps snapping at my arm (she has never nipped me) when I let her out to train. I'm wondering if like they say here a fat puppy is not a healthy one, fat puppies look cute for us. But a healthy puppy maybe the way to go.
We have been feeding our 4 mth old male GSD Nutro Natural Choice Large Breed Puppy food for three months now. I think it's great. I just follow the directions on the bag. Also we mix it with the canned of the same type. Like they said if you can see the last rib, your fine. I would not keep switching the food though. If all else fails, ask your vet. They can examine the condition of the dog and give their opinion.
My Kane went through the same thing... he was huskier and looked fuller but as he grew he started looking thin. He sprouted up had long legs but thin looking. Some dogs ust go through that stage and I was told as he grows and matures he will fill out. Hes looking a little fuller now but some days still seems thin. He is now 9 months old. I also give him broth with his kibble at least 3 days out of the week. He loves this and since hes eating a little more those are the days hes looking fuller. And like most advice you might get... thin puppies are better than heavy ones that may have access weight one those young joints. I feed Kane Canidae All Stages. He was on Purina Puppy Chow from the breeder, but I didnt want him to grow too fast and the Canidae so far has been great. Good Luck!
