Hi everyone,
Haven't posted in years. My chihuahua X healer (acd) is now 8 and the best cattle dog anyone ever
had, thanks in all ways to advice found here, marker training, a new way of relating .... And tips on how to handle a working pup, not a pet.
Well, he's a pet now,a sweetums, AND he moves cows every day. At 32 lbs. he's just perfect.
But...he's going blind, fast. Probably PRA, it's classic. We are going to the U next month to the ophthalmologist.....
Looking for info, tips on management as it gets worse. In bright light he's still fine, but as dusk approaches he runs into things, and at night he can't see at all. It began about a year ago.
He doesn't have much of a nose, except for mice in the field, or newborn calf poop. I'd like to teach him to use his nose more. Get him some skills to help him cope.
