Were the dogs also evacuated? I have no idea how such things are organized. could they be together with their owners? I guess there were many people with pets and Iimagine that they can't all be together with so many unknown people and animals.
But you're right, Candi, I too think, that most dogs will overcome such stressful adventures easier than people. I myself would be afraid to go on living there as it can easily happen again. So let's hope the best.
Yes, my friends operate their two "Dobies & Little Paws" no-kill RESCUE facilities in Fillmore & Ojai, so all the Animals had to be Evacuated along with the humans, is my understanding of that dire situation (thus the SCORES of VOLUNTEERS who stepped up to help out) -- They are Not boarding kennels for dogs who have owners ... These poor animals are all WAITING to be ADOPTED
The veteran Firefighter of 9 years service who Perished while defending Fillmore in the face of that wildland inferno Fell in the line of Duty not far from one of the two Dobies & Little Paws locations -- There are NO WORDS adequate to deal with that ... He left a young widow, their 2 year old daughter & a second baby-on-the-way
Yes, I too have no words for such a tragedy. I fear that more firefighters have lost their lifes and left their families behind. Just unbearable that thought. It must have been most dreadful also for the survivors. They risked so much, couldn't know whether they'd make it and fought to the point of complete exhaustion. What great people!
I also admire all the volunteers who helped out as much as they could. I hope that most of the animals will be adopted.

I wrote about this in the past. Thought it was sonn all over. But it doesn't seem to be so. Those insiguous winds and no rain, everything so unpredictable.
