History: Logan my DS is almost 13. He has been raw fed almost his whole life but lately cannot digest raw meat anymore. I switched him to Taste of the Wild lamb based food and he is digesting way better. However, he doesn't like it very much and the fat they use is canola oil.
What I'm looking for:
Zero chicken (allergy)
Grain free
Animal fat based (no canola, sunflower etc)
High calorie (underweight)
Probiotics
Max expense $50/30lb bag
Any suggestions?
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog.
I have quite a few brands of kibble I have used over the years, always mindful of quality ingredients and palatability for the dogs. I've checked ingredients on all of them, plus a few others that crossed my mind. Unfortunately, I can't get any better than five out of six of your requirements. Sorry, as a long-time kibble feeder, I was hoping to be able to help you.
I have been cooking for my dog lately. He can't digest his raw so well any more, either. He's only a 30 lb dog, so it isn't a lot.
I make "meat loaf "= hamburger, oatmeal, salt, few eggs. He loves it.
