While I cannot comment on feeding BARF since I have never done so, I do see obvious advantages for it and would like to try it one day...if I ever have the time and patience. In the meantime, I will feed Canidae unless and until I find something better. Certainly, Joe does not exaggerate when he says it is very good food.
For 25 or so years I fed Euk. and got what I thought were good results...but when P&G bought them out, profit became even more important than before and I decided to switch...big decision for me. Have never regreted it.

Thanks for the info on this food, I did check out he site and it seems very promising, and not that expensive.
I have a problem with the above tidbit- Can you show proof of this accusation. I guess if the label said "meat renderings" then yes its conceivable but usually it say "chiken or beef or poultry" and no other type of meat is listed, they cant just throw in dog meat and call it chicken. Maybe Walmart brand has "meat byproducts" but I dont think Iams or Euk. does. If you can point me to something that say that fine, but until then I dont believe it.
The one problem I have with Canidae is that it's kibble. Seriously, it's still little bits of processed cooked mush that will expand when wet. It's probably one of the best kibbles made, but it's still kibble.
Ikor, I'm a busy college student (short on time and cash) and I've figured out a way to feed raw to Auster. I'll probably make veggie mush every month, and then buy 8lb chicken back bags and organ meat from a local butcher. I think he caters to the raw feeders because most places just sell 40lb boxes. She's get other bones and meat as they are on sale and we have a few extras from the family packs the humans get .

That should be enough to make you sick (and feel guilty) for now. I'll return with more sources later.
Thanks for the links- I did read them and it confirmed what I thought- Higher end kibble does not contain these horrors. Both articles state that the lower end foods may have "meat and bone meal" but you will not see that in Iams and Euk. So as long as I resist the temtation to feed my dogs Gaines Burgers I should be okay.
