"The suits each claim that varieties of dog food sold by Hill's Pet Nutrition contained dangerous levels of vitamin D, with some plaintiffs alleging the food led to their pets' deaths. According to a suit filed in New York, Hill's recalled some of its specialty pet food products in January 2019 but should have instituted a recall much earlier."
My personal opinion of Hill's is extremely low.
I've watched this suit for many months now.
"Should have instituted a recall much earlier" ... and meanwhile, dogs were ingesting "dangerous levels of vitamin D" and, according to plaintiffs, were dying.
The majority of these mentioned are pushed by many Vets. Why? Because the nutrition classes taught by some Vet schools are taught by reps for these companies.
Unless specialized in nutrition they unfortunately know about as much about what to feed as the average pet owner.
Same as training advice. Talk with a reliable trainer, not the vet. JMHO of course.

Exactly.
G.P. veterinarians are vital for medical help, and thank goodness for them.
But it isn't even fair to rely on the G.P. vet for specialty help (like nutrition, training, or any of the branches of veterinary medicine that have become specialties, such as dermatology/allergies, geriatrics, ophthalmology, oncology, etc.).
Horrible "food". So sad people trust package labeling (but you should be able to!) and have no knowledge of nutrition to know better than to buy it. Seems all folks know these days is stuff like TV show/movie trivia and other useless time wasting garbage, even the "educated" but lack any basic common sense.
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog.
