I was reading on another K-9 message board about the capabilites of bloodhounds and how they are trailing vehicles for miles. Here is part of the post:
"A few years ago a officer tracked a female child that had been kidnapped from a apartment complex. He used his blood hound to Trail the child while riding in a auto
for several miles."
Its important to keep an open mind when it comes to training dogs, but sorry to be a sceptic, I say no way.
I would like to hear if anyone else has heard of these claims.
Add to that one……. And I think it’s the same training list (K9 Training Cough…Cough..) the story that popped up about a week ago concerning the lady who’s yellow lab ran a 175 Hour old training track through a foot of snow. PLEASE
Believe it or not, that bloodhound story was actually ran in a news magazine on TV a few years ago. I got sick of hearing about it from the locals who wanted to know if my dog could track that good. My answer was...Of Course <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
The discussion on the dog trailing the person in the vehicle ranks up there with the one of the dog telling the handler the kidnapped victim was alive when it was in the trunk of the car. The handler could tell because the dog was depressed. I realize I was born at night, fortunately it just wasn't last night.
