Rudy layed his life down to protect a fellow officer,that is the greatest sacrifice a K9 can do, he's in our hearts and will always be remembered along with our other fallen K9's.

Update on the death of PSD Rudy
Rudy's killer was apprehended in AZ by the FBI. Once he sobered up enough to give a full statement he confessed to it and gave a full statement about the event. To long to recount here but the bad guy was able to slip his carhart jackert on the first engagement, was bitten in the hand after than and being a large person was able to roll on top of the dog, grab a collar and his head whilke being bitten and snap the dog vertebra. he will be arrigned in Tucson tomorrow and extradited to NM for trial.
This is absolutely horrible. I will say a prayer for the officer and his family. I am naive about this sort of thing but, I have a question. Will this person receive the same punishment for killing a k9 officer that he would have if it had been a human officer?
