I was wondering if someone could explain line breeding. I understand the premise, but would like to know what a 2-2 etc.. means. What line breeding is acceptable?? Is there a web site that explains it. I will check leerburgs site in the mean time
The numbers are real simple. 2-2 is two generations back on the sire's side and two generations back on the dam's. 3-2 is three generations back on the sire's and two on the dam's. Etcetera. When you see something like 4,3-3 I think it would be looking at the same dog four generations back on the sire's top side, three generations back on the sire's bottom side, and three generations back somewhere on the dam's side.
To expand on Pete's post. 2-2 would be a 1/2 brother - 1/2 sister mating. The SV only allows 2-3 or 3-2 linebreedings except under special circumstances.
My 15 month old bitch has no linebreeding, but if I were to take her to a Mink grandson those pups would be 4-3,3 on Mink. If I were to take her to a Jago Lindenhalle son then she would be 4-3,3 on Mink and 2-3 on the littermates Jago-Jenni (her dam is a Jenni daughter). If I took her to an Iko Lindenhalle son then she would be 4-3,3 on Mink and 2-3 on Iko (dam is by Iko).
