Well I just started in my schutz club and they have puppies on the poles watching Bitework. They have the adults that already know bitework in their crates in their vehicles. I know our helpers run around and mess with puppies with the tug to get them going. It makes sense giving them something to watch and learn from.
Depends on how it's done - if more than one puppy is tied up at a time it usually doesn't work and it's often a sign of lazy helpers or a lazy club.
Tying out of puppies can work when done with a single puppy watching the advanced dogs work and the owner is alongside the puppy to praise it at the exact instant that it reacts to the helper. It usually *isn't* done that way and if it's not, it's pretty much a waste of time.
Edit: cuz I cant spel gud.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />
