That is what it seems at this point. Yet, we all know we have seen exceptional pups. I saw one at a breeders place at 5 months of age. I "knew" he was a great dog. The rearing was excellent and the behavior was everything you could want. I had to beg to buy the dog. It is a seasoned and excellent dog in patrol, tracking, and detection now. The dog was exactly what I saw. If and when i see another like him I'll buy him. I do believe the truly exceptional dog shows itself but when you look at the numbers as a whole I think that you are lucky if you take a 8 week old pup and it turns out acceptable.

Thanks. He was outstanding in confidence, his play and his behaviors were big dog behaviors, he didn't really act like a pup. He was started in bitework, tracking, and playing well and he just behaved like I expect a young adult to.
Have you noticed that about four months some pups get spooked for a couple of weeks? Is this common? I have been working on exposing him to many different sorroundings and sounds....
