Originally posted by VVG: Am I correct in reading the ringsport website that a dog must be tattooed? Yes, you are correct with what you read.
When a dog attains a passing score in the brevet the judge will then inspect and verify the tattoo with the number listed in the dogs score book.
I did read awhile back that in France there was some talks on allowing Micro Chip as a form of identification but to my knowledge this has not become a part of the rules.
All official Ringsport Clubs must have a person designated as the Tattooist for that club to verify any dogs from that club were in fact legit in the number applied.
