Beagles are not on the list for Illinois...yet.
But many working breeds are:
(c-5) Any dog that is of any of the following breeds shall be deemed to be a dangerous dog by the Administrator or Director and shall be registered by its owner as a dangerous dog:
(1) Pit bull.
(2) Rottweiler.
(3) German shepherd.
(4) Huskies.
(5) Alaskan malamute.
(6) Doberman pinscher.
(7) Chow chow.
(8) Great Dane.
(9) St. Bernard.
Having grown up there, I can say this; Illinois is insane anyway, so this doesn't surprise me at all. This is TYPICAL. One more reason to never return to it.
If everyone is thinking alike, then someone isn't thinking.
A lady, with Pressas,on the Schutzhund club lives in Il. She has been following that particular legislation and has said it has been put down.....this time. Now we're going through the same thing in St. Charles County, Missouri. That's about 15 mins from me.
Alan, where do you train? Hi Melissa. I train with Adrian Moreno at All-Phases and with the Windy City Ringsport club for French Ring. He's a very good trainer and really excellent decoy to work the dogs. Am hoping to get my GSD his French Ring Brevet this year, but have a lot of work to do before then!
Have also worked a little with Bill Kulla up near Rockford (Morengo?). He's a long way for me to travel, but Bill is really excellent also.
My neighbor here in New York has 2 HUGE Great Danes and they are the most sweetest dogs and my grandma had a St. Bernard. He was the coolest dog, he would play tug-of-war with my brother and I. He would always win and drag us all around the yard. We would get so muddy. The only mean St. Bernard I can think of was Cugo. But he was a nice great dog before he got bite by the bat!
