I am on a puppy search. I currently have a 5 year old male GSD, but I decided to pull him from the protection portion of Sch. A BH is as far as I will go because I don't think he can physically handle the stress on his $2,000 knee! Anyway, it may be a year before I can actually make the purchase, but I'm starting to look. Do you all know of some good working line breeders in GA or South Carolina? I would prefer European lines, which most working dogs are I believe. I plan to do Schutzhund and various other activities with the dog.
Sally,
Go to realworkingdogs.com and talk to a man named Will Beatie. He is the owner of the kennels. He can help you find a good dog. He is located in Ellijay GA. He knows his stuff and has some nice dogs. Also contact the Greater Atlanta SCh group. they have some nice dogs there also. I have a pup out of one of the dogs in the club. Hope this helps.
Sally,
I've been a member or officer of most of the SchH clubs in Georgia.
After you talk with a prospective breeder, but before you buy, send me a PM and we can discuss in private your choice.
This state has a lot of breeders that people should simply *beware* of, and a few that are worth buying from. If you want to know more, we can continue this conversation in private.
Thanks folks. I appreciate the suggestions and offers for help. It may be a little while before I can actually get the dog, but I'm going to really take my time so hopefully I end up with the right dog for me.
