On the legal thing...never ever ever say your dog was trained to bite any particular part of the body, I was told this over my own legal matter...as for leg biting taking someone down while running?
well i have my own story and I'll make it brief
Caesar urinating in his yard, drunk man approaches yard, does not see giant GSD (yes he was too tall by anyones standards), drunk man decides to whip out stuff and also urinate in yard. Giant dog sees man whip out junk and approach female Owner (me). Giant dog lunges for drunk man who flees, junk in hand.Stupid drunk gets ripped to sheeeit by Giant dog by a leg take down whole time shaking entire stupid drunk before Owner sees what in the HELL is going on. (40 something stitches)
Nice officers come to house to take dog until Owner tells the story, nice officer suggests that dog was naturally protecting territory and is NOT protection trained so that owner does not get sued for dispatching a deadly weapon...nice officer also suggests that "beware of Dog" signs not be used to avoid knowing that you own a deadly animal....Laws BS?? yup
moral being...a leg bite may not look flashy but it sure as hell will take someone down where nice GSD can then proceed to bite other parts that are now more accessable. interesting about the bottle thing...Caesar used to be an arm grabber till he was nearly conked out by a mag lite then also went for legs...and yes, the sides of the torso if legs were hard to get, but as he was tall the sides of 6 ft men were well within reach without jumping. I thought hip probs but he never had any probs with his hips right up until he died at 12 yrs old.
ps. leg can be a fatal bite as well, think ripped femoral artery.
I have an 8 week old male shepherd puppy. I been trying to stop him from biting. I will give him something else to bite. But in seconds he is right back biting my wife or me. I trying hard not to correct him. I will be training him for protection once old enough. Any ideas besides tapeing his mouth LOl. I don't want to correct him and surely don't want to stop his drives. those puppy teeth are smarts
