Just thought I would pass this on to the rest of you folks, in case you haven't heard of this.
I currently use canning jars to store my narcotics in, scent tennis balls/towels and to train with (depending on the hides).
I've also bought an extra set of lids, in which holes are drilled in, when going training, I just change the lids, and wa-lah, you have an almost perfect training aid, at a very small cost.
Jars are always handled with gloves, and so are the lids, I actually keep the lids together while in storage, and have them marked so that you do not contaminate the lids with other narcotic scents.
The one thing you have to watch is that you have to act immediately, if the dog gets his jaws on the jar, as you do not want this jar to break (for the obvious reasons).
Using these jars also helps in preventing accidental overdose, as to often we hear of this happening, and you very seldom have to handle the narcotics, which helps in preventing your scent being on the narcotic or other contamination.
Just a thought, hope it helps.
This is my first post to the board, so hello all!
If you folks have any great training tips, please feel free to email me.
Being new to this field (1.5 years), I believe (almost) anything helps
We put cadaver scent sources in the smaller jelly sized canning jars, same scenario as you. They fit nicely in a toolbox (affectionately called "The Stinky Box") <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> .
