Just to let everyone know...There is an individual with the name(could be an alias) Sharon Baker trying to purchase a dog. This individual sent a 'certified bank check' to me from a third party. Originating in Nigeria. The check was drawn on Peoples State Bank based in Michigan. Anyway, I rcvd word from my bank today that it was counterfeit. Luckily I never sent the dog. I was suspicious of other things. Anyway, be on the lookout. If you want more info or have any info contact me privately.
What's so suspicious about certified bank checks from Nigeria? Heh,Heh,Heh. Be Careful out there. I used to think Ed was overly suspicious when Caya called about me using two different credit cards. There's ALOT of ripoffs in the dog business.
The Nigeria Scam Connection has been operating in Europe for years under various disguises, and has now hit the USA pet world bigtime. One example: A local breeder here lost about $4,000. She was given some feasible story due to exchange/customs and business reasons why she was sent too much money and had to wire back the excess. Don't ask me how people are naive (spelling?) enough to be taken in, but they are. The bank told her that everything was bona fide. So don't believe them either! She now has to pay the bank back $4,000 with her life savings..
Been there done that We had this one person who bought a horse from us paid $500 with cashiers check( check was legit ) came back traded the horse for a $2500 horse 3 months later with a cashiers check. this check was forged. I called the person up and said I have the perfect horse for you and since you are such a good customer I will trade the old horse and $1000 for the new one this person brought back the old horse put her in the barn presented me with the $1000 cashiers check and asked to see the new horse. I handed this person what was thought to be the horses papers instead it was a letter stating I know your scam and if you dont leave now I will have you arrested. The horse trailer left empty I had my horses back and $500 to boot. Needless to say when we started breeding dogs it became a cash only or wait till the check clears till you get the dog. I would also add $50 to the cost if I had to accept a check this prompted most people to bring cash.
