I was at Petco and the obedience dog trainer (she's says she the #4 rated trainer in the country)was telling a couple that was shopping there and having trouble controlling their large rottie mix. She offered to help. She grabbed this 100 pound dog by the jowls and screamed NO! at him when he barked at another dog. She screamed at him for about 20 seconds, then told the owner to do that if he acted up again and then put him in a "time-out". Needless to say I was shocked and surprised that the dog didn't bite her face off. I was going to tell the owners not to do that, but they left too soon. Has anyone ever heard that this works?
Awww c'mon Josh,
There's a rating system, didn't you know that? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
Actually, I'm ranked #1 and have the paperwork to back it up....just give me a minute to create my certificate on the computer....errr I mean find my certificate in my files. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
Well maybe she was RANKED #4 out of 100 with 100 being the top trainer.
Give me a break PETCO
Mike you might be #1. Just what scale?? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
Ah yes, Petco...the mecca of world class dog trainers.
Bernhard Flinks had metioned that he intended to teach classes there in the future. I also overheard Dean Calderon *and* Helmut Riaser both mention their hopes that one day they could become qualified to teach at a Petco...
I bet even I could get a job as a Petco trainer <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> . Just go to their 1 week trainer course (might be longer, I'm not sure) and read the manual <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> . At least most of the stores I have seen will only use positive training, so that the dogs can't be messed up too much.

Where do you live I'll be happy to bring my 4 yr old gsd and have her scream in his face <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
I really feel sorry for the people who don't know as much about traing and get their dog screwed up by people like this <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> A few years ago I would have been one of them
