I've searched the site and all I found was how to make one... I would like to find one that I can purchase for my GSD. He's a male, who's father was about 90 lbs.
I need one that I can install in a wall, since Apollo's dog run is adjacent to the side wall of my house. I live in Michigan, so it needs to be able to seal properly to keep the cold out in winter.
All of the shops/online stores that I have visited either don't have a wall mount, or don't have a door big enough for my boy when he's full grown.
Does anyone have a good recommendation on where I can order one?
Hmmm... I just did another online search and found one that is 16" x 25 5/8" ($365... ouch) and one that is 17 5/8" x 29 5/8" ($405... hurts even more).
I was really hoping to find a good one for under $250.00...
I'm with Lee B. As long as the door is a few inches deeper than the dog's chest you should be fine. They can pick up their feet to fit through <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> .
I haven't looked around, but the catalog that I get (www.kvvet.com) has a 15x20" insulated wall door for $150. I can't comment on it, since Auster doesn't have a dog door (she likes to talk to the neighbors so outdoor time is supervised).

Make sure that the fram and the connecting parts for the flap are metal. Once he dogs get the hang of going through the dog door they will just fly through. The dog door we had that had a plastic frame around the flap broke frequently. We finally replace with one that is all metal and haven't had a problem since. On the current one it had only 1 screw that held the metal piece that holds the flap to the frame. That didnt hold up long. I had to modify it by putting 4 nuts and bolts in to hold it. It has worked fine since.

I bought mine at Petsmart (in Canada) and it accomodates all my GSDs including the 95 pound tall one. It has a thick plastic "flap" that, to be honest, I do not notice heat or cold coming in thru (my computer is 10 feet away and I would know LOL), and it also has a hard plastic panel that you can "lock" in when you don't want the cold (or thieves) coming in or the dogs going out. I think it is the Deluxe Door by PetSafe and can be installed in walls and is for dogs up top 225 pounds. I LOVE mine. I have had it for 2 years and no probs whatsoever, with ALOT of use. (Mine is installed in a steel door.)
