This is a question for the breeders, like Mr. Frawley and the rest. Out of the many puppies /adults you folks have raised and sold, what percentage would be a fairly close quess of the unhappy or dis-satisfied customers. Is there any one reason for being un-happy with one of the pups or adults, that seems to be heard more than others?

lee is absolutely on the mark with matching folks up with the right dog. in casual conversation lots of folks talk about german shepherds and how beautiful they are or their folks had one when they were a kid....etc. when they start talking about buying one, i often suggest they look at different breeds....quiet dogs. we had an awful experience with a male pup we sold several years back. the lady seemed fine when she came to buy him. supposedly he was just what she was looking for. i asked her to call me back and let me know how they were getting along. several days passed and i hadn't heard anything so i called her. she was flipping out over something; not sure what, said the dog was driving her crazy and she was about to take it to the animal shelter. i had told her when she bought the dog that i would be more than glad to buy him back if it didn't work out. he was a very laid back dog, so i don't understand what the problem was. she did bring him back, i refunded her money and finally sold him to a nice young man who was ever so happy with him. more often than not, its the people who disappoint you and not the dogs. hmmmm.
if there are no dogs in heaven, then when i die i want to go where they went. ---will rogers
Mark, in my observations, the highest number of complaints come about when working dog breeders sell or place dogs into non working homes - the "pet owners" almost inevitably have great difficultly coping with a high drive dog.
I've seen this happen to several friends that are serious dog breeders. The breeders end up with a few pups that just are not really working quality for the level that handlers want, but the dogs still have *way* more drive than the average AKC dog and overwhelm pet owners - and the pet owners will want to return the dog eventually or it ends up in a Humane Society. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
