What gives me some leverage when it comes to allowing the original breeder to find another puppy, is the fact I have a Utah Post instructor/judge involved. This gentlemen is also planning on getting the director of Utah Post K9 training involved as well as another instructor/judge to verify the legitmacy of the kennel, its operations, the kennel master, the puppy, the health, the hips and elbows, the lines, etc. It is as though they will be conducting a complete background check for me. These titles may mean diddly to some, but these gentlemen have enough knowledge, influence, and connections that they will be certain I do not get jerked around. I am still fairly new to dog handling/breeding at this level, and I have made some mistakes. These men got involved to be sure I do not get scammed again. If the original breeder can provide me what I specifically asked for, and it can be verified by the gentlemen who are working with me, then I will be satisfied, and will move on, keeping in mind I will be paying nothing for this pup. If not, then the original breeder is going to be in some serious deep water without a lifevest, and the sharks will be let loose....there are other parties involved that are angry as well, including the owner of the supposed father, another gentlemen who got a puppy from the same litter as me and has used the supposed pedigree as a selling point for his own puppies....and I am sure there are others we have yet to find....
I am not angry about the dog....I lucked out. This dog has been deemed a candidate for certification through Utah Post......pretty good all things considered, not to mention she is a great dog with the family. She is more than I could have asked for....but I am pissed because I was told the dog had a certain father, with a certain bloodline, and that turned out to be false. I am unable to verify any pedigree on my dog's father's side....this hurts when it comes to breeding, and especially papering the dog....it can't be done. It's kind of like when you find out you're adopted. You are still the same person but a little hurt because you thought you had a certain heritage when it was really something else. Not to belittle those who are adopted. I have a step-daughter out there somewhere I am hoping to meet someday (my wife put her up for adoption before I entered the picture)........anyway....keep the thoughts and comments coming.
Drew, Sorry to hear about your breeder. If it were me in your shoes,I would run as fast as I could away from this guy. People with good reputations do not conduct business this way. If the guy was not 100% sure who the father was,why was he selling these dog's under Ripp's pegigree and all his paper work from Holland? Sounds a bit shady. I hope you get things worked out.
