Yes, I've seen lots of bitches get really screwy just before and during their heat cycles. Some get unbalanced hormonally somehow and stay weird for wks after. Most working PSD bitches are spayed for that reason.
Richard - are there any studies more recent than 1991? And I did not see a reference to heavier, merely taller. Am I missing something?
Joy - I am going to get bloodwork soon on my senior, the vet advised me not to spay her but I will follow up on your advice and get the bloodwork, thanks for the advice. She is not a protection dog, but is very trained and has been really weird during her heat cycle.
