I live in Minnesota and have a Giant Schnauzer and a German Shepherd and the meter is in the area that they are in, so the electric company at no charged installed a reader so that they can read the meter from the road as they drive by.
Just to let you know that my dog is not a 'bad girl' she is just territorial as most dogs are. She did not growl or bare teeth or bite the oil man,( if it were to happen today, she would) she just stood over him & barked at him. And by the way it was an all prey bark after she knocked him over. ( dog is in training for Schutzhund & ppd) Granted, he didn't know this. She was just interested in initiating a game. The delivery man had no sense at all coming thru the gate without coming to the front door & or calling inside the gate before opening it. I have beware of dog, guard dog signs on all of the gates. I have had repair men in my house constantly for months ( just bought a new house & have had tons of work done) & have never had any incidents. Hell, I worked the dog in OB in the yard constantantly the whole week that the men were here putting up my fence, drilling thru rock & sawing etc (never miss an opportunity for distractions to work her under) & she never even gave them more that a casual look in passing. I do not advocate dogs or other creatures attacking repair men etc., but in all fairness they have to have a little bit of sense & responsibility also. This guy told me afterward that he had friends that had put signs up anouncing dogs,( that did not have any) just to keep people out of their yard. So I guess since on previous visits he had not seen the dog,it was after I had purchased the house but before I had moved in, he thought that maybe that was the case. I guess he will be more carefull about assuming in the future. Enough said.

Corinne Yeah going to call them next week, that's what my parents have. Need to see if they can install it. 90 dollar electric bill in Dec is unacceptable, should be more around 20ish.
