My ex brother-in-law (still friends) is Pat Horn, the head of Missouri Region C Tec Rescue. He's the guy on the ground in the photo. I can tell you from my own conversations with him, he respects the Bloodhounds nose, but, from his own expierences, says their scenting abilities are no greater than tha GSD's. He also says The GSD is a much more versitle dog, by far.
BTW, I think he has one of Josh Lewis's dogs on his team.
He might just at that. I have 3 Mals out in MO. 2 w/ FD's and one w/ a volunteer.
2 of them are on the MO Task Force 1.
I sent a link to one of the handlers and waiting to hear back from him. His Mal is a MACHINE of a Disaster Dog. Makes me shake my head every time I watch him work he's just that good.....not being bias...he's a machine.
Josh,
I am also on the team and work one of your females Malinois pups. His brother is starting on the unit as well.
We use to have all GSDs, but now have a lab, mals, GSDs, and a Australian Shepherd.
