Just wanted to say, I have directed people to this board over the years and so many of them have been helped by just reading the articles. Then are helped even more by the webboard.
Many times I have been approached by friends who say "I'm so glad you told me about that site, I was so worried about me having the baby and the dog in the same room, but I have done everything recommended and it's just one big happy family"
Also I want to express my thanks as well. I have learned
ALOT from this site and the members. From introducing Xena to Alf, feeding an all natural diet and just general rules to live by on how to be responsible to and for your your pet.
I agree! I thought it was a lonely world out there until I found the site! Finally a site that explains the REAL way to train. I've learned so much!
Thanks Ed & Leerbug.com

Yes Alison! Have you been told to give a dog a cookie when they *DECIDE* to sit. Oh yeah that's EXACTLY how to train a dog. Reward it when it decides, otherwise you are a cruel cruel person.
Well, I used to work at...shhhh! don't tell anyone...Petsmart(eeeks!)-a long time ago. They brainwash you to believe that "positive" is the only way to train and of course prevent them a lawsuit. I got into too much trouble explaining to the class..."sorry folks, we can't make our dogs behave here, but this is how you do it when you get home" speeches. It's hard to tell these clicker obsessed people straightforward answers without someone getting their feelings hurt. Positive training is wonderful and should be used first and foremost but there are times when the answer is "stop spoiling your dog and get his a** into gear!" A good correction is not abuse- it's efficient & complete dog training. (whew...thanks for letting me vent there...)Another thing I have found true in the dog world today...'Those who nag at their dogs prefer to be nagged at'. Sound about right? Thanks to Leerburg we can all stay sane.
