I would like to hire a trainer to help me with my dog with some proofing and dog agression issues.I live in colorado my dog is very people freindly. He cant stand the sight of another dog except my other dog. He is a apbt with alot of game dogs in his lines so i know it will be some work.I may never let go to a doggie park but i want to controll him around his biggest ditraction...dogs. thanks or if anyone is in colorado just regular training and not board and train.
I recommend contacting Tim Cruser, he is in the Denver area, and I know he has worked with aggression-issues in many different breeds. His e-mail is gsddogs@aol.com
I am in Denver, but if he took after the game bred dogs your asking a bit much. To me thats like trying to get a fish to walk on leash. This is one of the reasons Pits get into trouble. ( the smallest, but one to be taken seriously ) Tim is one to check out! tell him I said Hi.
Thanks for the info..check out the bad rap web site http://www.badrap.org/rescue/endings.cfm they actually have rescued game bred dogs that were used for fighting and got them the good citizen cert. Jenn he isnt approrpriate for class now his drive for another dog is extremley high...i got some evals locally and the trainers wont let him in.He wont even tolerate a dog 100 ft away.I have been taught some things to do with him like using the prong collar and making him sit as a dog gets closer and then praising him when he does and that works.he can do it for a 30 seconds or so and worked his way up to 15 ft away but my neighbors wont work with me on that and i need another dog to practice this and it works.
Here is a link to Lou Castle's articles. Go to the Crittering or Dog to Dog Aggression article, because I had a Rottie that was VERY dog aggressive and after I did Lou's protocol for crittering, my dog could almost litterly touch another dog when we were done. http://www.finographics.com/schutzhund/o...OG%20AGGRESSION
