I have just attended a seminar with Bernhard Flinks - he came out to South Africa. I have a 3 year old Boxer that is incredibly prey driven. His drive overides the circuits in his brain I think! When doing bite work with him, he would normally pull like a sled dog on the harness, but we introduced a prong to him and alternated at the right times from the harness to the prong during the exercises. He definately responded to it. Not the pulling like I was used to. We are trying to teech him to bark so that he can eventually do the 'hold and bark' exercise. It seems that this is the way to make him think a bit about what he is doing. We need him to think a bit so that he can consider listening to different commands when in this 'high-drive' mode. He is in general a very excitable dog, but is very obedient otherwise. Anyone out there with similar experience with a Boxer?
