Our pup is about 13-14 weeks old. I have seen people on here talk about giving your dog cream cheese in a kong for times maybe when he may be in his crate for a long period (ie..overnight during bedtime). I have been doing this and our dog LOVES cream cheese. In fact, you can tell he is ready for it each night at bedtime.
My question is how much cream cheese is ok? I have a kong that that I would say is a medium size (its the blue and white one). It's not huge but it's not real small. I fill the whole thing up with cream cheese while my wife only fills it maybe half way. We are just not sure how much is too much. He only gets it at night (we like to call it his ice cream treat at bedtime). I know cream cheese is very high in fat but I assume that is ok.
Also, should I still take his water up at night (at maybe 9pm, which is after he eats), even though I give him the cream cheese? I "think" it is ok to remove it but I want to make sure I should leave it down being that he is eating on the cream cheese. LOL
I would say it's safe to give him up to 10% of his food amount in treats or cream cheese. As long as he's not refusing to eat all his regular dog food, gaining weight, or getting diarrhea- go for it!
Since he has two Kongs, fill one and place it in the freezer while he plays with the other one. Now it's real "cream cheese ice cream" that takes alot more time to eat out of the toy. He'll like the challenge and it will save you time. You could also try peanut butter(stickier) or you could mix the creamy treats with his hard dog food to make it harder for him to get out. It's amazing what they can get out of that darn toy! It's hard enough to stuff it full!
I'd also pick up his water around 9, like you said. That big doggy tongue will wash all the cream cheese down. Not having his water will also help his potty training, if he isn't already.

He is "semi-potty trained". LOL He does not go in his crate (pee or poop). He has been in the crate for up to 6.5 hours (during the day while we worked) and he has not had an accident. He is pretty good about going to the door now (as of late) and we can kinda tell now that he has to "go".
We go to bed about 11pm and I get up around 3 or so to let him out (which has worked great) but since he is about 13-14 weeks, I am going to try tonight to let him go all night....hopefully he will wake me when he needs to go.
Funny thing...as I sit here and type this, the little buger pisses right next to me on the floor. I had to stop typing to help clean it up. Probably a handler error but he just peed about an hour ago and he didn't "look" like he needed to go out...not sure what happened there! DOH!
As far as the cream cheese and peanut butter (yea, we use that for when he will be in the crate for a long period of time during the day...it's his "day treat") LOL
My pup got the regular red Kong. I fill it up with a couple of sticks of carrots, a dog biscuit, and some creamy stuff at the top. Takes ME a while to get that out, so I guess it takes her a while too. Yes, you read right...she likes carrots. I don't know why. She and the Shih Tzu both enjoy it...while Riley, the spitz, looks on with this disgusted look on his face.
Was pretty lucky to discover that as she gets diarrhea if fed the Kong stuffing too much, and I don't much like having to give her treats.
Funny you say that about carrots, our little Aussie pup LOVES carrots. Hell, I think he loves any food. It is great for training! LOL He is very food driven.
I think we may start stuffing a treat or two in the kong and then fill around it with peanut butter or cream cheese...it may make it tougher for him instead of him just sticking his tongue in the kong and getting it out, he will have to work at it more (hopefully).
He hasn't stopped eating his regular meals (3/4 a cup of hard puppy food mixed with some water to make gravy...he is so spoiled!) and he hasn't had diarrhea so I guess we are doing ok.
Have you tried freezing broth or the cheese in it, btw? Makes for a great popsicle treat! I haven't tried it yet, but it looks like something I'd wanna try...if I was a dog.
Yea, we start freezing his "night time kong" at about 9pm and give it to him about 11pm...it's nice and frozen by then. The downside is we have to hear him smacking because his crate is in our bedroom! LOL
