We have to take our little old rag dog, Pippy, in to be put down today at 5:30. We got her from a shelter and they thought she may have been 1 and 1/2 years old at the time. We had 3 children at the time and another dog, and had lost our oldest boy's dog a few months before to old age. She filled such a void in his life. He grew up and joined the Marines, but still loves "HIs" little girl. I can't reach him today to tell him. After Jeremiah (the ex-Marine) moved out, she became Cyrus's favorite- he is the same age as her- almost 13. She now has 5 children at home who love her and who will miss her dearly. We just had her teeth cleaned about a month ago, and she made it through wonderfully. But now, afer a few years of battling bladder leakage, she is loosing control of her bowels. Sorry for rambling, but I am locked in our office trying to compose myself for the children and to get back to our school day- It's our anniversary today too.....
I just got off the phone telling a friend how God had used Pippy in so many ways in our lives to bless us and when she asked,"God uses animals?" I was able to testify to the many ways He had used her to bring comfort and encouragement to people. She even touched a little Russian orphan's life and gave her a little security for a period of time...
Well, thanks for letting me write. I'll have to dry the keyboard if I don't stop. I am glad this place is here- I know I will have more to write another time.
