We only use the vests for parades, demos. It would be to easy for them to get hung up on the underbrush. Even our collars are quick release.

Actually mine is a GSD - almost a bicolor but she has a very tight coat and very little undercoat.

It is some kind of hunting season here more months than it is not and I really want my dog to be orange as can be.

We have been through plenty of stuff that hangs me up but my dog seems to get through the densest brush in her vest. I do use a snug flat hunting collar with the ring in the middle. The two times mine has gotten hung up she has stood still and barked until I untangled her and it was her back legs both times and not the vest

But I know others who like their dogs to run without any vest or abbreviated ones; it seems to vary a lot.
