Caine Manor not Canine. No Richard isnt there anymore he kind of split in the middle of the night kinda thing. But there are trainers still there that might be what your looking for.
Stop making excuses for your dog and start training it!
Thanks for the help y'all --- looks like I have some good leads both in public forum and PMs. I'll be checking around the next few weeks with the people referred to me and coming up with a decision...but I am definitely going this route; she is too good of a dog for me to mess up and I defintely don't want the formal obedience to be the hold up for her becoming operational.

Thanks, Will. I just posted the "DTIYH" site because *I* had had excellent results with them, and the trainer that I used originally came from the Charlotte 'office', and goes back there every other weekend or so to work his shepherd with the local Schutzhund club. He's also been learning helper techniques as well. He's also a frequent lurker on this site, and was before I ever started working with him. He's eager for me and hubby to get our shepherd (possibly a Leerburg dog, but we haven't decided yet) because he really wants to see one of Ed's dogs in the flesh. Of course, with any group of dog trainers you're going to get bad apples, but the experience I had with DTIYH was a great one.

I'll have to ask him when I talk to him next. I'm pretty sure he said it was a Schutzhund club that he was talking about. I could have been mistaken, but I'll ask him to be sure.

Lewis Lundy is doing hepler work in Columbia. Think there are two clubs in that are that work together. Very good group of people, training and competing at all levels.
So it all works out! Thanks everyone for their help!
I talked with a trainer at Continental - had a wonderful conversation with her and will meet her this Friday after work.
Got a hold of Richard Shook and he gave me a glowing endorsement on this person. I really enjoyed talking with him a LOT. He knew EXACTLY what my concerns were about the extreme polar training methods and people who can't fit the training to the dog.
Feel free to PM if you want his contact info he was fine about that. As far as whatever politics went on I did not ask and he did not offer and that works for me.
