This puppy is going to make me a patience of high/ low blood pressure for sure. Now today in the morning he ate (or I think he ate) a small round about 4 inches in diameter nylon string.
I was worried sick so I gave him half banana mixed with some rice so that he can pass the nylon thingei.
But since then he has barked, eaten two meals, pooped twice (after lunch and dinner) and gone to bathroom several times. I did not see it coming in his poop. Though he does seem little lazy today (or it is just my imagination).
1. Should I still be worried about the nylon thingie getting stuck somewhere inside?
As you guys know that this is my first puppy every time there is something new, I have to get a second( often several) opinions before I get satisfied.
2. IS BANANA GOOD FOR HIM? HE LOVES IT.
3. WHAT ARE THE FIRST SYMPTOMS OF SOMETHING WRONG?
I think you guys know a lot about him thru my several posts but not his name. HE IS MATRIX. Just as complicated as the mathematical model <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
Hey Rashmi,
If your pup had an actual blockage he wouldn't be defecating at all. You would also see lethargy and vomiting. It should pass in the feces soon. Are you sure he ate it?
That is a million dollar question. I don't know for sure. But Lynn has been very helpful is giving me tips. As this happened on Firday morning and he has been eating and going and if he continues by the end of today, I think he should be fine.
Vet told me that the passing would take more than 24 hours.
I had a dog who had *5* intestinal blockages during her lifetime and I soon learned that just because she left a "package" that morning does not mean she wasn't blocked up. Loss of appetite, pacing or digging at her bed, looking like she could never get comfortable anywhere she laid down, throwing up were all signs of serious trouble. Forget whether or not the dog has pooed. If the dog looks quite uncomfortable, get it to a vet.
