Members of the board I am looking for a protection dog trainer/club in Omaha Nebraska. Does anyone know of a trainer or club(s) in Omaha that would offer assitance in my dogs training. I have ordered several of Leerburgs videos and really have gone as far as I can go with out further assitance. One of the biggest problem I have is finding a suitable "helper". Either my buddies don'share my interest for dogs/training or they don't want to be on the business end of a 120lbs animal. I have two dogue de bordeauxs (one of which was imported from Hungary)
I have contacted the Nebraska Kennel club, but for what ever reason they are not eager to help with my quest for a club or a trainer. Is it because I do not have GSD? I am new to dog training, but I get the sence that a lot of folks in Nebraska some how think this type of training is cruel. I do not share this opinion and I know there are others in NE like me. Can anyone point me in right direction? I want to thanks everyone in advance for your help. Please let me know if more information is needed.
I belonged to OG Omaha from 1999 - 2001 when I had to leave for Alaska. It was a nice club back then with some great people to work with. As I recall though, some of the older members with dogs who had their SchH3 were retiring. They had a nice field to train and do short tracks on but for longer tracks you had to go to a couple different locations. They trialed once a year and also went down to Kansas for trials. Hope you find what you're looking for.
