Andres - you need to email me privately and EXPLAIN exctly what you are talking about here. It has better not be dog fights. My email address is frawley@leerburg.com I am closing this thread and blocking you from posting to the board until you email me and explain. No one talks about dog fights on this board. At least they will only do it once if they do.
Andres emailed me - he is not talking about fighting dogs as in dogs fighting dogs - he is talking about dogs working on a helper. I dont have a problem with this - its cleared up and the topic is open
Pardon my answering myself here...but I'm interested in responses. Part of what I emailed Ed is as follows:
"Glad to. When training protection dogs on the man, during the actual bite portion of the exercise, most dogs feel a significant amount of stress that makes them "heat up" quickly, begin to pant, extend their tongues, etc. Additionally, bites on a sleeve or a suit typically never last longer than one minute in training scenarios. My questions relate to the importance or lack of it...of training dogs...and conditioning them...to be able to fight a man on a suit or a sleeve for let's say ten minutes, five minutes, or some other time duration."
Do you consider dog and handler teams need to very fit? How do you train? Condition?
What are typical canine intervention durations in your experience?
How long do you train for in dog/man confrontations? Do you know how long your dog can last? Do you condition your dog? How? What bite scenarios do you use for this...if you do?
Well...we'll see how it goes... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
