I recently lost my trusted helper to a prior commitment to Uncle Sam. Now, I have a less skilled helper. The last 2 training sessions my pup has released his grip on the mini-sleeve and bite the helper on the leg just above the knee. It happened so quickly I don't know if it happened during a counter or what. This happens when using the clatterstick to touch Donut' s back. Donut hasn't done that with me or Greg his former helper. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I thought he might have lost his initial grip and was countering to get a another bite. He is quick to rebite when he looses grip or doesn't have a full mouth bite.
Than get some video or something and teach your new helper how to get dog to rebite and be calmer while bitting.
Helpers are hard to find, and the clueless ones that have will need to be teached. I am living example...
No sport yet. Just trying to get his grip set. Started working him in sch tracking. If everything falls into place I'll have a good sch club within driving range. But would also like to get him involved with ASR for a more realistic protection. As far as I know there ae no French Ring or other ring sports in my neck of the woods.
We have decoy certification and training before every ASR trial - and the fall season for ASR this year will likely have several trials. Send your decoy our way and we'll do the rest.
Sounds good I would be happy to send him. I might send Donut to see you. I know he has alot of sport dogs in his pedigree but he's full of piss and vineagar.
