Just a reminder for those of us who live in older homes and have dogs that "aggressively" alert when strangers come to the door - please make sure that you have tempered glass installed in any door or window that the dog might jump on. I was reminded of this myself the hard way today, when Mika decided to hit the door when the mailman arrived. He jumped a little too high this time, hit the glass instead of the door and put his paw straight through. Fortunately he just got cut a little - had he hit the larger pane next to it, he could easily have killed himself. This hadn't even crossed my mind since the glass is 4' off the floor. Needless to say, tomorrow a guy's coming by to install tempered glass in the door as well as the windows on both sides.
You bring an excellent point. My dog too jumps and barks at the mailman. We have a neted door that now needs to get repaired but never thought about the glass wall that is in the living room. It just happened that the mail man always stands at the door to drop off the mail.
If a guest would have stood outside the glass trying to peep inside....whow...
