Matirx is doing fine now. I had posted “Hip Sprained” few days back. It was nothing as per the Vet.
This thread is to ask about first steps before his PPD TRAINING and food in Kennel. 1. I have to board him in a kennel for one week before his PPD TRAINING. My concern is his food.
RAW FOOD is out of question for that one week.
I am going to leave WELLNESS PUPPY FOOD. Should I mix it with WELLNESS ADULT DOG FOOD: 50-50? Any thoughts?
He would be having only WELLNESS for 3 times a day for 7 days. I don’t want him to get fat.
It is a great kennel and is very clean. I trust the owner but I would not trust anyone to handle RAW FOOD except my family and ED and Will <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
2. In terms on PPD training, is it a good idea to have the prong collar on a 6 months old puppy when you are trying to build his drive. I want to start the basics before I go a trainer. Any suggestions?
I don't have any comments on the feeding.. I just feed mine whatever works LOL
As far as the prong, in my personal opinion I don't ever see any reason for a prong on a 6 mths old. You can still teach the basics VERY easily with a motivator.

7 days won't make him "fat," IMO. BTW, have you looked at The Honest Kitchen food, which Leerburg now carries? I'll PM you with the info. I am definitely getting two of the three choices for backup for when raw isn't convenient.

I apologize, Rashmi.......I forgot this was a pup and you would want puppy food! Sorry.......... Well, later on!
But I don't see that it states on the webiste. Did I miss it?
Coming back to my question, I guess with one week of WELLNESS PUPPY FOOD 3 times a day will not make my puppy fat as he will be doing lots of activities like playing with other dogs....
Correct?
I don't think you'd want him playing with other dogs.. can you see if they can give him lots of one-on-one playtime instead? You don't want to risk a bad situation that may make him dog-agressive.
I'd suggest feeding kibble to Matrix a few days before the kenneling just so you can see how he reacts to it and he can get used to the change in the comfort of home. If you leave the kennel with strict feeding instructions (including any treats), he shouldn't get fat in just one week.
