Hey Mike I may call tommorrow if I get a chance. I will definately be there tommorrow night though. Is it OK to bring the pup she is only 5 months old I dont intend to work her just want to let her watch a socialize.
Ringsport: I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one out there who drives over a hundred miles weekly for my dogs. My other half thinks I need to have my head examined. But then again this is the same guy that if you get too intoxicated around him , he's liable to throw you in the back of a pickup truck and run you through an automatic carwash (quality redneck entertainment - he calls it). If we had training 3 times a week I would be there 3 times a week. Alas our club only trains on Saturdays.
Sspringarm: We train in personal protection, no Shutzhund. Pm me if you're interested in checking out their web site.
MikeRussell: yes I know who Steve Cobb is and I've heard of his dog Riker, but that's not who I train with. Are you and Sspringarm in the same group?

Thanks Mike for the nice comments. You guys are welcome to come and train with us anytime, as you should well know.
sspringarm, have you had a chance to work with Mike, Linda and Greg in Lafayette? Greg comes to our club every weekend and trains/helper work with us. You are welcome to bring your puppy out and train/socialize with us anytime.
Renee, I believe I can help you with your puppy. We train three times a week (Tue p.m., Thurs p.m., and Sat a.m.). We still train at the same place (need directions? pm me)...you are welcome to come out anytime.
Hi Renee,
Are you sure it's "ADD" and not avoidance? You should read this article: http://www.leerburg.com/def-frst.htm Also, you said his father "was" a great working dog, what happened to/with him?
Heather,
I'm going to check out the article as soon as I post this reply so I may ended replying again.
At only 3 years of age and while my pup was about 7 weeks of age, his dad contracted a virus through a small cut in his foot. (the vets had some specific name they called it but I can't recall) What the virus was specifically I'm not sure, but the autopsy showed that it settled in his heart and he died within 3 months ( a couple of day before Christmas). The report confirmed that it was not something normally vaccinated against nor was it genetic in any way. Which quite frankly scare the living he** out of me. Kinda want to lock all my babies up in padded room. The week before he contracted this he was at practice hitting as hard as ever and being a normal 3 year old. His loss was felt by all of us.
Heather,
I'm pretty sure that it's not avoidance. My dog is in no way being threatened by the decoy. At this point in his training Rio and the decoy are just learning to play. Any time Rio shows some initiative and barks back at the decoy, the decoy runs away and will then try to sneak back up and take the burlap back while Rio is guarding it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Steve,
Hi thanks for the invite but I'm going to stay with the club I've been training with for the last 2 years. I have total confidence in their abilities and feel certain Rio will come to his own, was just looking for something more I could do at home to kinda speed things along.
If you would tell Princess, Melanie, and Carl that I said hello.
Hugs and puppy kisses for all,
Renee Renee396@aol.com

Thanks Steve,
I had a really good experience with you guys up there, too bad we live way down here! But, a 400mi round trip to train with you guys time from time is well worth it. And I really meant how impressive Riker's reverse gear fuss was, that about blew me away! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
I want to personally invite you this weekend (May 18th and 19th) for training. We are excited to have a SV Teaching Helper for the weekend. It is going to be great training with loads of information. The Greater New Orleans SchH Club and the Dallas/Fort Worth SchH Club are all coming for an exciting and educational weekend. E-mail me for directions and/or more details.
