my year old Black Russian Terrier is almost perfect in obedience......he responds fast and stays focused. His stay is perfect --- perfect. Set off a firecracker next to him and he wont move. However, on "down" he always barks once...maybe twice. Little barks of protest it seems. He goes down....in fact he's down before i get to the end of the command. I just wonder if this bark is something I need to correct?
What can hurt about giving a NO command when he does it? Nothing ventured nothing gained.
To stop a dog from barking you have to first teach it to bark on command. Once it understands the word for BARK - then you can use "NO BARK" and he will understand what you are talkking about.
