I like to get my dog 'chipped' and I wonder what the latest and greatest microchip is out there that can be read international. I'm not sure yet what brand my vet has. In earlier and older posts there was mentioned that there are three different brands. Did this situation improved? Is there a 'global' chip or scanner? What would be the boards recomendation for an 'international' usable chip? What is a good location for the chip? I heard they put it now between the shoulder blades.
I have both my GSD's microchipped, and they were inserted right in their shoulder area. Course I also have them both with tattooed ears, and with all the ID tags I can fit on their collars. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
The Avid brand is made to be read by all the scanners, not sure about international though.
