i let my dog jump on a bench once and a while when outside, i do not allow this on my furniture. but he is now also jumping on the couch, is he confused cause he is allowed so outside?and should i stop em then from jumping on anything outside? he is 4,5 months( malinois)
Whats wrong with teaching a pup the meaning of the word NO!!! Solves the problem, My question would be why is a 4 month old pup off leash and loose in the house?
dear Ed, i would consider myself being a good student since i have never let my dog off leash. ever! my question was if i am confusing the dog by letting him do things outside which he is not allowed somewhere else. is this confusing the dog? thank you
For the most part, a dog is only going to do what you allow him do. If you let him jump on the couch, he'll jump on the couch.
My dog is "allowed" to put his front feet up on a bench by our window so that he can look outside and see who's by the door. He is not "allowed" to go on the furniture.
There is no confusion, he knows what he is allowed to do versus what he isn't allowed to do.
Just say no!!
