hi everyone:
I am new here. I have a Boxer whom I brought to watch some ScH training a long time ago. One thing I noticed was how solid he was when there was agitation going on. He loved the sleeve, and in general though very playful as Boxers are, was an adult for this <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Anyway, a few years ago, a neighbor (who is the scourge of the neighborhood) came up to me while I was walking by. My Boxer who is normally friendly (but not goofy), stood next to me. This guy apparently got annoyed because my boxer would not go up to be petted. So, the neighbor does this quick jerking movement toward us. Without a sound, Tucker, the Boxer returned the favor, but not in a friendly manner. He did not strain, just jumped forward very assertively, and seriously, and this guy immediately backed up. Afterward Tucker acted pretty much as usual, but to this day, has no love for this guy. I was surprized by his calmness in a situation which would have made at least one of my other dogs go into a barking fit. When looking at stable temperaments for working/protection dogs, what do you look for in a situation such as this neighbor presented us with?
Thanks
Julie
