5 minutes, 10 minutes....whew! My dogs would down a whole bag of food each in 5 minutes!LOL
Very typical of Retrievers.
Not to say anyone here on this thread does, but people tend to overfeed their puppies as well. They will feed what the info on the bag recommends. Remember, dog food companies have one goal in mind....sell lots of dog food. They tend to overstate what the dog needs at each given weight. It is almost always necessary to feed less than what the bag recommends. Sometimes this is why the pup wont eat, he's being over-fed. Thats why your own eyes are the best judge of how much to feed.
I'm with you, Chuck...sometimes the first dog to get his food is done before I even set the bowl down for the last dog. I stay in the kitchen anyway, just to monitor them so they don't play musical bowls. We usually let the alpha male eat any leftovers from the other bowls, but he has to sit and wait until we say OK. Well, one time I left the room while they were eating, came back about 15 minutes later and that poor guy was still sitting in front of a bowl, staring at it, patiently waiting for the OK. I felt so bad...he got lots of luvins' after that.
